A while ago I posted an assortment of cocktails rendered in watercolor. There were several renderings of these cocktails done for the purpose of animating them. Three of those animations are posted below.
I have illustrated a range of subjects for myriad uses & mediums- from web video to television, Broadway, murals, museum exhibits, children's books, annual reports and beer labels. I'll post some of these periodically (meaning: when the mood hits me) and hopefully elicit comments, feedback and maybe new projects. I may wander into a discourse on illustration's history, my history & illustration's possible future, as I see it. Let's see where this takes us...

Cocktails
Here is an assortment of cocktails done in watercolor with a pencil overlay. I'll be posting an assortment of cheeses next and then one of fruit. I guess its 'Theme Week'.

Indian Ladder Farmstead Brewery
Its been a while since I posted anything but I am beginning to catch up, starting with this.
This craft brewery & cidery is located on a well known and beloved apple orchard where they also grow their own hops and barley. The idea was to evoke the classic produce crate art of the 40s to reflect this brewer's commitment to ingredients sourced as locally as it gets! They even brew a farmstead style beer with yeast developed on the farm.
In addition to the art of the apples and hops, this time I had the opportunity to do the graphic design as well.

Hops rendering
Something a bit different, style-wise. I was asked to follow the style of the existing suite of drawings for this.

Facundo Bacardi
Bacardi has released a suite of special rums and launched a web site for which I have contributed artwork. I created vignettes in multiple layers of line and wash that were then animated by a very creative team. When I saw the results, I was floored. Take a look and see if you don't find the animation as fun as I do!

I won't say who these were done for but I thought that they were fun-fun to do and, hopefully, fun to view.

IBM Television commercial
I was fortunate to be involved in a television spot for IBM that aired during the Masters Golf Tournament on Sunday, April 13th. I and my art work both appear in the commercial. It was
one of 45 or so unique spots in a"Made with IBM" series that aired one time each. This spot can now be seen on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQ2j5Ev2sPE

Nantucket Nectars
Here is a big project that I worked on last year which is finally making its way into stores. I re-illustrated the label art for the entire line of Nantucket Nectars juice flavors, fifteen in all. All the art was done in watercolor and each of the elements were done separately so that they could be re-arranged for different flavors. This was a great project!

Samuel Adams seasonal bottles
One last post for 2013
This was done along with a poured glasses version. I will post that one in the near future. This is the most detailed and challenging a rendering I have ever done digitally. The drawing part is still traditional pencil but the rest is photoshop- for anyone who would care about that sort of thing.

This was done for a 5' tall display, among other applications, promoting fresh caught Salmon in season. I quite enjoyed this project.

New Look for my web site
www.dahltaylorart.com has had a complete overhaul and is sporting a brand new look. There are more dynamic features to this site as well and, I think, it is a bit easier to navigate.

Illustrated dragon story on iPad
It's here at last!
"Willoughby: The Dragon From Suburbia", the fully illustrated series is finally available on iTunes! Good things come to those who wait and so it is with our "Willoughby"
series. We have been working on this for over a year and are excited to see the first two chapters published for the Pad and iPad mini.

Sam Adams IPA line up
Here is the complete, 4 style IPA line up that was done in the chalk/pastel style. Samuel Adams' Creative Director did the beautiful logotype rendering but I was responsible for everything else - great fun!

Even More Samuel Adams Stuff
These are two of four packaging re-designs using a chalk/pastel medium to set the IPA line of beers apart from the rest of the lineup which has been done in a scratchboard style. This was the project that I had the opportunity to do a pastel version of the iconic Sam Adams tankard hoisting portrait.

Samuel Adams iconic portrait
I had the opportunity to do my version of that portrait you see on virtually every Sam Adams product. This version had to be done in a chalk style for specific applications - in this case it was for the label and six pack for Double Agent IPL. I've also included a detail of the original art here.

Two more Sam Adams Small Batch labels
Well, it's been a year almost to the day since I posted the first of this series of 22 oz. limited edition Samuel Adams specialty beer labels. These two make it eleven so far in the series. It's been great fun and, I believe, the series has been successful so I hope that it continues.
